What is overcut?
A circular saw blade cannot finish a deep cut exactly at the visible corner on both faces of a structure. For the cuts to meet through the full depth, the blade normally has to travel past the corner at the surface. This additional distance is commonly called overcut.
What affects the required overcut?
Structure thickness and blade size are key geometric factors. Rig position, available space, the required finish and whether corners will be drilled can also change the practical cutting method. Use the calculation together with professional judgement at the work site.
